A high-staking gambler in Tennessee is putting a lot of weight over the flailing New York Giants before their Thursday Night Football game with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Even though the Giants started the season rough, such as a loss to the formerly winless New Orleans Saints, the bettor placed a huge bet of Caesars Sportsbook with the Giants cover a 7.5-point spread at odds of -113, according to Ben Fawkes of Yahoo.
In case Giants can keep the game within eight points, then the bet would profit them with $300,000.
A similar position is being taken by sports betting analyst Iain MacMillan of Sports Illustrated. MacMillan, in his weekly column, Road to 272, which he uses to make picks in every NFL game, also supported Giants +7.5 (-110) with FanDuel Sportsbook.
MacMillan wrote: I can never trust Eagles as their record complies. They are only 28 th in the NFL in Net Yards per Play (-0.9), right behind the Giants (-0.8). I can not warrant throwing them over a touchdown in the road in a divisional conflict.
Though MacMillan acknowledges that the offense of New York has been atrocious — 25th in the number of yards per play (4.9), 28th in the number of points per game (17.4) and the last in the ratio of red zone touchdowns per (31.6) – he would also suggest that Philadelphia is not much better than that. The offense of the Eagles is among the worst in the league with 4.4 yards per play, and they are at the middle of the pack in their defense with 5.3 yards per play.
The run game is also crucial in both teams and both defences have not been successful in stopping the run game. Eagles are 25th in terms of yards per rush on opponents (4.7), and Giants are 29th (5.3). Such imbalance has contributed to the fact that the total of the game has been reduced to 40.5 points at FanDuel, being lower than it was 42.5.
The Giants have lost two matches with the Philadelphia last season, 28-3 blow out in October and a 20-13 loss in the last week of the season, when the Eagles were resting a number of starters.
Should the game this week finish the same way the seven points loss was experienced, the Tennessee bettor will be cursing rather than sweating.
