The Las Vegas Raiders could be without their star left tackle Kolton Miller for multiple weeks after he suffered a high-ankle sprain during Sunday’s 25-24 loss to the Chicago Bears, NFL Network reported Monday. Miller left the field limping on the Raiders’ final drive and was scheduled for an MRI on Monday to assess the injury.
Kolton Miller, 30, has been a cornerstone of the Raiders’ offensive line since being drafted 15th overall in 2018. He started the first four games this season, playing 250 of the team’s 251 offensive snaps, and has started 111 of 113 career games. He also signed a three-year, $66 million contract extension this July, including $42.5 million guaranteed.
Rookie Charles Grant, a third-round pick from FCS school William & Mary, could see his first NFL action if Miller is sidelined. The Raiders (1-3) head to Indianapolis this Sunday to face the Colts (3-1) amid a three-game losing streak.
Las Vegas was hoping to rebound against Chicago and even with a strong performance in parts of the game, a blocked game-winning field goal sealed their fourth-quarter loss. Both Kolton Miller and starting cornerback Eric Stokes left Sunday’s game with injuries. While Stokes exited in the second half, Miller was hurt on the final plays.
Raiders head coach Josh Carroll had no updates immediately after the game, but Monday’s report confirmed a high-ankle sprain for Kolton Miller. Though no exact timetable has been announced, multiple weeks are expected.
Kolton Miller had been the lone bright spot on a struggling offensive line, keeping the unit together and shielding the Raiders’ offense from bigger problems. Losing him now comes at a particularly tough stretch, with upcoming matchups against strong defensive fronts in Indianapolis, Tennessee, and Kansas City.
It remains unclear who will step in at left tackle. Stone Forsythe filled in for the final play against Chicago, and rookie Charles Grant could be activated soon. Either way, Miller’s absence is a major setback for a team already fighting to regain momentum.
