Texas Tech football commit Felix Ojo is not staying quiet after his latest rankings drop. Rivals released its new 2026 Top-300 list this week, and Ojo went straight to social media to share how he felt about it.
Felix Ojo was once ranked as the No. 1 offensive tackle in the 2026 class. But in the newest update, Rivals moved him from a five-star to a four-star recruit and pushed him down to No. 48 overall. After seeing the change, he posted a message that quickly went viral. He wrote, “There isn’t 47 players better than me in this class.” His frustration was clear.
This ranking slide actually started months ago. Back in July, Rivals dropped him to around No. 40 after he struggled during the Rivals Five-Star Challenge in Indianapolis. In a few one-on-one drills, he was beaten by top pass rushers, and those videos spread fast online. Felix Ojo later said that one bad day at a camp shouldn’t define him, and many people agreed. But Rivals still lowered his rating.
Even though Rivals pushed him down, other recruiting sites still see him as one of the top players in the country. ESPN ranks him No. 20 overall, and 247Sports has him all the way up at No. 5. Scouts say he has huge potential and could become one of the best offensive tackles in the 2026 class, although they note he still needs to improve his hip flexibility and lower-body movement.
Felix Ojo is also one of the most talked-about recruits because of the major deal he signed with Texas Tech. He agreed to a three-year, fully guaranteed contract worth around $5.1 million. It’s one of the biggest deals for a high school player since schools were allowed to directly pay athletes. His agent, Derrick Shelby, built the contract to help Ojo and his family while he develops into a future NFL player.
The Mansfield, Texas native has also been invited to both the Navy All-American Bowl and the Under Armour Next All-America Game. Very few high school players get a chance to play in both events. Before choosing Texas Tech on July 4, he received attention from big programs like Texas, Ohio State, Michigan, and Florida.
As Felix Ojo finishes his senior season at Lake Ridge, he’s still confident in his talent. And based on how much Texas Tech invested in him, they seem to believe in his potential too. Whether Rivals changes his ranking again in the future is unknown, but Ojo is clearly using this moment as motivation.
