The Cincinnati Bengals made a bold move when they brought in veteran quarterback Joe Flacco from their division rivals, the Cleveland Browns. So far, it looks like that gamble has paid off. Even though the Bengals sit at 3-6, Flacco has been solid — throwing for 1,254 yards, 11 touchdowns, and just two interceptions. Now, as Joe Burrow gets closer to returning from injury, some analysts think he could learn a thing or two from Flacco’s simple but smart style.

On The Pat McAfee Show, analyst Hammer Dahn said Joe Burrow should follow the same approach. “Joe Burrow can make them a little bit better by following the blueprint that Flacco did,” he said. “He got the ball out quick. He wasn’t always trying to wait too long or throw deep every time. Move the ball down the field and then take your shots.”

Flacco’s calm and quick decision-making has helped the Bengals’ offense stay together while Burrow recovers from his turf toe injury. But the team’s defense is still a big problem. Missed tackles and sloppy plays have cost them close games — including a 39-38 loss to the New York Jets and a 47-42 loss to the Chicago Bears.

Star players Ja’Marr Chase and Chase Brown were upset after the Week 9 loss, and both safeties Jordan Battle and Geno Stone said the defense needs to improve fast.

Joe Burrow has been watching everything closely from the sidelines. “He’s playing great,” Burrow said about Flacco. “He’s hitting the ball well. He’s been accurate, getting the ball out fast. The O-line has been playing great. We’ve been running the ball really well, and our receivers are making plays like always.”

Joe Burrow has started light practice again as the Bengals opened his 21-day window to return from injured reserve, hoping to have him back by Thanksgiving. When that happens, Flacco will likely give the starting job back — but he’s not worried about it.

Flacco told reporters, “I have a job to do, and I’m focused on giving it my all.” “If that ends at some point, I just want to feel good about the work I did.”

Flacco has earned that respect, throwing 470 yards and four touchdowns in the wild game against Chicago. For now, he remains the starter, but once Burrow is healthy again, fans are hoping the Bengals’ offense will finally get back on track.
