A familiar name is back in the college football conversation, and Colorado fans are paying attention. Former Colorado running back Dylan Edwards, who once played a big role in Deion Sanders’ early time in Boulder, is planning to enter the transfer portal again. Now, many fans want Sanders to bring him back to the Buffaloes.
Colorado is still trying to improve on offense, and the team’s numbers look similar to last year’s 4–8 season. Some fans believe Edwards could help provide a boost, especially with his speed and playmaking ability.
Edwards and Coach Prime have a long relationship. When Colorado signed him, Deion Sanders said he had been coaching Edwards since he was a young kid and that their bond was special. Edwards made an immediate impact as a freshman, especially in the season-opening win against TCU where he scored four touchdowns and became the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week.
However, things changed in April 2024. At the time, Colorado was dealing with transfer portal uncertainty. Sanders asked players to be honest if they planned to leave. Edwards did not say anything during that team meeting, but a few days later, he announced on social media that he was transferring to Kansas State. Some fans felt disappointed by how the situation played out.
At Kansas State in 2024, Edwards showed he still had strong talent. He rushed for 546 yards, scored five touchdowns, and even had a 71-yard punt return. But this season, he was limited by an injury and played only four games, giving him the chance to redshirt and keep two years of eligibility. On November 7, he shared that he plans to enter the transfer portal again.
Right away, Colorado fans started calling for a reunion. Comments online included messages like, “Bring him home!” and “It’s time to come back to Boulder.” Many believe there is no bad blood and that Edwards left to be closer to home, not because of any major issues with the program.
Edwards was the first true freshman in Colorado history to record more than 250 rushing and receiving yards in one season. He has already shown what he can do in Colorado’s system.
Now the question is simple: Will Deion Sanders make the call and bring him back? Time will tell.
