Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill is currently recovering from an ACL injury, but that hasn’t stopped people from talking about his future in the NFL. Hill has been watching his team from home, and when a rumor started online suggesting he might be released or even retire, he responded right away.
The rumor began when Miami Herald reporter Omar Kelly posted on X that the Dolphins might cut Hill to create more salary cap space. Kelly also suggested that if Hill had insurance, it might make more financial sense for him to retire while rehabbing his injury.
Tyreek Hill didn’t let that comment slide. He replied, “Omar, you don’t know shiiii 😂,” shutting down the idea quickly. His message was clear: he is not planning to retire.
Tyreek Hill does have a large cap hit of $51.8 million in 2026, so it’s likely the Dolphins will discuss his contract again in the future. But Hill has already said he wants to stay in Miami. Earlier on the Terron Armstead podcast, Hill explained that retirement would only depend on how he feels mentally and physically, not on rumors or pressure from outside.
“I love playing football,” Hill said. “But it takes a lot mentally and physically. Any decision about retirement will come down to how I feel when the time comes.”
For now, Hill remains on injured reserve after being placed there on October 1. The Dolphins are struggling with a 2-7 record after nine weeks, but Hill continues to support his teammates and believes they can turn things around.
This year has been tough for Miami. Before the season, there were reports of tension between Hill and quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. The team has also dealt with frustration and criticism as losses piled up. Hill’s injury only made things harder.
Even while recovering, Hill is staying busy. He recently announced that he is working on a music career as a DJ. His stage name is “Cheetah,” the same nickname he earned because of his speed on the field. He has already performed in Miami and Los Angeles and shared that DJing helps him stay relaxed and mentally balanced during his recovery.
Tyreek Hill has always been interested in music. He has a Spotify playlist called “Tyreek Hill’s Taste,” which includes songs from artists like Erykah Badu, J. Cole, and Kehlani. Music has been a part of his life for years, even before this injury.
For now, Tyreek Hill is focused on healing, supporting his team, and exploring his creative side. Fans are excited to see what he does next — both on the field and on the stage.
