The Texas vs. Texas A&M match was made worse by injuries on both sides. The Longhorns are especially struggling at linebacker, while the Aggies briefly worried about their quarterback, Marcel Reed.

Texas’ problems started when linebacker Trey Moore went down after Texas blocked an A&M field goal. Reporter Cory Mose shared the news on X, saying Texas was already missing Anthony Hill Jr. and Ty’Anthony Smith. Moore has been a key player for the Longhorns this season, recording 20 tackles and 3 sacks. Losing him leaves Texas very short at linebacker, since Hill is out with a broken hand and Smith missed the first half because of a suspension.

With three top linebackers out, Texas’ defense, which usually gives up about 17 points per game, has to rely on backup players. This makes the game even harder for the Longhorns as they try to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Texas A&M also had a scare when QB Marcel Reed hurt his ankle in a non-contact play. Reed, who had completed more than 60% of his passes this season for 2,752 yards and 25 touchdowns, was quickly taken to the medical tent. Backup Miles O’Neill ran one snap before Reed returned.

Marcel Reed was later seen jogging and riding a stationary bike to warm up. He came back for the next A&M drive and even ran 13 yards on a quarterback play. Texas A&M moved into the Texas 20-yard line and scored a field goal and the score was now even at 3–3. Aggies WR KC Concepcion joined the list of players that scored a rushing TD just before the half that put A&M up 10-3 at the half.

With Texas missing key defenders and Marcel Reed back on the field, the second half promises to be an intense battle as both teams fight for control of this rivalry game.
