South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers is having a rough season both on and off the field. Once one of college football’s rising stars, he’s now facing a big setback that’s turning heads across the country.

According to On3, LaNorris Sellers’ NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) value has dropped by $600,000 — from $3.5 million to $2.9 million. That big dip shows how quickly things can change when performance slips.

LaNorris Sellers hasn’t looked like the same player who impressed everyone last year. So far this season, he’s thrown for 1,536 yards with a 61.7% completion rate, seven passing touchdowns, and three rushing scores. But the turnovers and slow offensive pace have held the Gamecocks back.

The struggles were clear in South Carolina’s 30–14 loss to Ole Miss. Sellers completed 16 of 30 passes for 180 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions. He was also sacked several times. After the game, Sellers said, “It’s football. Sometimes things go your way, sometimes they don’t. It’s adversity.” His frustration was clear — he knows he can play better than what the stats show.

Last season, things were very different. LaNorris Sellers lit up defenses and earned national player of the week honors after putting up 350 total yards and three touchdowns against Texas A&M. Even A&M’s coach, Mike Elko, remembered it well, saying, “He absolutely lit us up last year. He’s still that big, athletic kid.”

But this year, the spark just hasn’t been there. The Gamecocks are 3–6, and fans in Columbia are getting restless. On top of that, there’s now talk that Sellers might not be back with the team next year. ESPN’s Todd McShay said Sellers is expected to stay in school but may transfer — and Miami could be waiting for a chance to get him.

“I’m not saying there’s collusion,” McShay said, “but Miami has done a really good job picking quarterbacks lately. If I’m Shane Beamer, I’d be cautious.”

For South Carolina, that’s tough news. LaNorris Sellers was supposed to be the key piece in Beamer’s rebuild. But between the losing season, the drop in NIL value, and the transfer rumors, the Gamecocks could be facing another big loss — this time off the field.
