NFL Network reporter Tom Pelissero has reported that veteran wide receiver Mike Evans will miss several weeks after he was hurt in a hamstring during Sunday’s win over the New York Jets. Pro Football Talk also contributed with the fact that the injury can be classified as being mild to moderate and not as severe as one he had last season which sidelined him three games.

According to Jenna Laine at ESPN, Mike Evans is projected to spend three to four weeks having a strained left hamstring. He was having an MRI done on Tuesday and it showed an average strain. Mike Evans is not new to hamstring issues, as he missed three games last year with a right hamstring injury, and three more four years ago in 2019.

At the fourth quarter against the Jets, the 32-year-old was injured. His limping out of the field to the locker room obviously showed a frustrated man. In his first four catches, he had 33 yards and a touchdown.

Thus far this season Mike Evans has 14 catches at 140 yards and a single score out of three games. Tampa bay has distributed the ball on offense spread with four players already recording over 90 receiving yards. The group is being headed by rookie Emeka Egbuka who has 181 yards and three scores.

The receiving corps of the Bucs was struck a severe blow by the injuries. Chris Godwin is an ankle surgery patient who has not been able to play since ankle surgery and Jalen McMillan has not played since preseason with a neck injury that will keep him out until after the Week 9 bye.

There is a bit of hope, though. As of Week 4 prior to the game against the Philadelphia Eagles, Laine noted that Godwin is capable of making a resurgence. Until that time, the passing game will have to heavily depend on Egbuka to shoulder the passing game.
