Indiana quarterback Fernando Mendoza is making a difference both on and off the field. He and his brother, Alberto, started a fundraising campaign to support the National MS Society, a group that works to cure Multiple Sclerosis and help people living with the disease. Their fundraiser is getting close to its $20,000 goal, showing just how much support they’ve received.

The idea started last year with the “Mendoza Burrito” campaign at La Burrita in Berkeley. The brothers created it in honor of their mother, Elsa Mendoza, who has Multiple Sclerosis. Since then, the fundraiser has grown in a big way. So far, they have brought in $18,364.36, putting them very close to reaching their full goal.

This year, they took their efforts even further by partnering with two more restaurants. BuffaLouie is now offering a “Mendoza Bros. Cubano” bagel sandwich. Every dollar earned from these items goes straight to the National MS Society to help fund research, programs, and services for people affected by MS.

Fernando Mendoza shared how much this cause means to him, especially because of his mother. He said, “My mom means the world to me—she’s the most caring and positive person I know—and I’ll keep doing everything I can to support her and others living with MS!” His message touched many fans and showed how personal this mission is.

Nearly one million people in the United States are living with MS, a disease that can be unpredictable and sometimes life-changing. Because of this, many people appreciate seeing a young athlete use his platform to raise awareness and help others. Fans have been showing their love and support online, leaving positive comments and cheering the Mendoza brothers on.

With the fundraiser so close to its goal, the Mendoza family’s efforts continue to inspire people. Their campaign is a strong example of how kindness, family, and community can work together to make a real difference.
