The halting of the Texans before Week 10 is a case when the team may change its quarterback. Head coach DeMeco Ryans has affirmed that in case C.J. Stroud is still missing due to a concussion, Davis Mills will be the starting quarterback.

Stroud exited Sunday’s game following a rough upper-body strike he received in a second-quarter scrumble. He remained on the turf several minutes after which he went to the locker room and entered the concussion protocol of the NFL. It was not a pleasant blow to the young star of the Houston team who has been the star of the franchise since the draft last year.

Ryans reported to the media that the case of C.J. Stroud is under close supervision.

The concussion protocol of C.J. I talked to him last night he is feeling some better, Ryans said. We would see what the week will bring and how he will advance.

Considering NFL regulations on concussion, it is hard to see that a player reappears within a week, and so, Mills might be getting behind the wheel on Sunday. The Week 9 replacement of C.J. Stroud by the former starter also became 17-for-30 and replaced Stroud with 137 yards.

Ryans did not take long before being asked about the direction that the team was taking.

“Davis has to step in and play. We only hope that he will go out and do the best.

The coach of the Texans also expressed his anger concerning the blow that had knocked Stroud out of the field terming it as the unnecessary roughness and why no one had been penalized.

When I get something wrong on the rules, I have noticed that several times occurred with our guys, and we receive the penalty, said Ryans.

The departure of Stroud stifled Houston offenses to the point the team could only score field goals instead of touchdowns. Through the tribulations, Ryans commended Mills because he remained calm despite any pressure.

“I thought Davis battled. He made an attempt to do a good job there, he said. We simply could not maintain drives in the second half, though. It wasn’t good enough.”

The Texans now occupy 3-5 and have an uphill task in case they wish to remain in the playoff competition. Ryans confirmed that injuries will never be an excuse, performance has to get better everywhere.

Everyone can get excuses and injuries occur everywhere in the league, he said. “We have to keep fighting.”

All the eyes are on Davis Mills as Houston awaits the news of the position of Stroud and find out whether he can stabilize the offense of the Texans when the time is right.
