Arsenal missed a big chance to gain more control in the Premier League race on Sunday. They ended up with a 1-1 draw against Chelsea, even though the home team played with 10 men for most of the match. It was a busy day across the league, with Liverpool ending a terrible stretch of losses and several other teams picking up key wins.

Chelsea Fight Hard in Intense London Match

The game at Stamford Bridge was full of energy from the start. Chelsea scored first just minutes into the second half when Trevoh Chalobah headed in a great corner from Reece James.

But Chelsea were already dealing with a major problem before that goal. Moises Caicedo was shown a red card in the 38th minute after a VAR review for a tough tackle on Mikel Merino. Despite being a man down, Chelsea stayed organized, but Arsenal kept pushing. The Gunners finally tied the game in the 59th minute when Merino headed in a cross from Bukayo Saka.

Arsenal stay at the top of the table with 30 points, five ahead of Manchester City. Chelsea remain in third place with 24 points.

Liverpool End Their Worst Run in Decades

Liverpool went into their game against West Ham desperate for a win. They had lost nine of their last 12 games in all competitions—a stretch the club hadn’t seen in more than 70 years. Manager Arne Slot made a bold move by leaving Mohamed Salah out of the starting lineup for the first time in a league game.

Alexander Isak, who had been struggling to find form, missed two good chances before halftime. But he finally scored his first Premier League goal for the club in the 60th minute, finishing off a pass from Cody Gakpo. West Ham’s Lucas Paquetá was later sent off for dissent, and Gakpo added another goal in stoppage time.

Liverpool’s win was only their second in their last eight league matches, but it lifted them to eighth place with 21 points. West Ham sit 17th with 11 points. The club and fans also honored former captain and manager Billy Bonds, who passed away at 79.

Other Premier League Results

Manchester United came from behind to beat Crystal Palace 2-1, ending Palace’s nine-month unbeaten home streak. Aston Villa moved into fourth place with a 1-0 win over Wolves, while Brighton jumped to fifth after beating Nottingham Forest 2-0.

It was a wild weekend of Premier League action, and the title race looks like it will stay close in the weeks ahead.
