Eberechi Eze had a dream day on Sunday, scoring a hat-trick in Arsenal’s big 4–1 win over rivals Tottenham Hotspur. The victory keeps Arsenal on top of the Premier League and gives them a strong six-point lead.
The match started slow and tense. Tottenham played very defensive, trying to block Arsenal’s attacks and keep the game under control. For more than half an hour, Arsenal struggled to break through. But everything changed once the first goal went in.
Leandro Trossard opened the scoring in the 36th minute. He controlled a chipped pass inside the box, turned quickly, and his shot deflected into the net. That goal finally gave Arsenal some energy. Just a few minutes later, Eze stepped up and fired a low shot into the bottom corner to make it 2–0 before halftime.
Right after the break, Eberechi Eze struck again. Tottenham gave him too much space near the top of the box, and he punished them with another clean finish. At 3–0, Arsenal looked fully in control.
Tottenham finally got something to cheer about in the 55th minute. Joao Palhinha won the ball in midfield, and Richarlison noticed Arsenal keeper David Raya off his line. He chipped a beautiful 45-meter shot that dropped into the net, making it 3–1. But even that moment of magic didn’t turn the game around.
Eberechi Eze finished his hat-trick in the 76th minute with another smooth and confident strike. It was his best performance yet for Arsenal, especially considering he had only one league goal for the club before this match.
“Special day, man. Special day for me and my family,” Eze said after the win. “Honestly, I should’ve had four. I’m always trying to score and take my chances.”
Tottenham had been strong on the road under new manager Thomas Frank, with no away losses before this game. But their defensive game plan fell apart against Arsenal’s pressure, and many Spurs fans left early as the goals kept coming.
Arsenal now have 29 points from 12 games. Chelsea sit in second place with 23 points. Tottenham drop to ninth with 18 points, and they leave this derby knowing exactly what kind of superstar they missed out on when Arsenal signed Eberechi Eze last summer.
