The Minnesota United FC Dayne St. Clair has been named the 2025 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year, which was a season ending accolade in which he dominated behind the posts. The 28 years old Canadian star was declared a winner on Monday after a campaign record.

Dayne St. Clair had the best save percentage of 77.93% in major league soccer and his number of saves (113) and clean sheets (10) were also career highs in 30 games. He became the only goalkeeper in the league to record a goals-against average of 1.00 or less and a save percentage of more than 75 percent the two-fold combination of which underscores the importance of this player to Minnesota United this year.

Dayne St. Clair has been in good company with this award. He is the second MNUFC goalkeeper to ever receive the award, after Vito Mannone did in 2019, and the second Canadian winner of the title in the history of MLS, after Pat Onstad (2003, 2005).

The award was divided into two groups, MLS club technical staff and media members and current players. St. Clair was voted by 29.4 percent of the overall vote, beating New York City FC Matt Freese (17.32 percent) and Vancouver Whitecaps Yohei Takaoka (15.49 percent).

Since coming into the Loons, Dayne St. Clair has been steadily gaining. He was picked seventh in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft out of the University of Maryland and he debuted on the first team in 2020 but has since emerged to become one of the most trusted shot-stoppers in the league. In 135 career appearances, he has had 37 clean sheets making him the foundation of Minnesota defense.

Dayne St. Clair has also been rocking at the international level. Since the beginning of 2024, he has already got 13 Canada caps and is currently being discussed as a serious competitor to the first position in the Canadian 2026 FIFA World Cup squad.

To Minnesota United fans, the award to St. Clair does not just represent the individual recognition of the player it symbolizes to the fans but the fact that their star keeper has landed in the midst of the very best in the league.
