Arsenal had an ideal night at the Emirates as Viktor Gyokeres scored his first strikes in the Premier League when he netted four goals in a 5-0 triumph over Leeds United on Saturday. Youngster Max Dowman also won a late penalty in his debut as Jurrien Timber notched two as well.

The injury of Gunners captain, Martin Odegaard and winger, Bukayo Saka is the only negative aspect of the game on the Arsenal side. Nevertheless, Mikel Arteta and his men amassed a second victory of the new season.

Leeds who were involved in the opening game where they edged past Everton started brightly but soon lost their way after Arsenal got into their rhythm. A cruel twist fated the visitors as the deadlock was broken in the form of a Timber header converted on the 34 th minute through a corner taken by Declan Rice. Shortly before half-time, he then became a provider, playing Saka through to make it 2-0 with an expert finish.

Odegaard grimaced and limped off even before half-time but even Arsenal could not slow down. Four minutes after half time, their new signing Gyokeres, who had signed in the summer from Sporting Lisbon and cost the club 55 million pounds received the best moment he had been looking forward to. Saka was taken off shortly after that but Timber made it 2-0 when Leeds cleared a corner in the 58th minute. The visitors had run out of ideas by this time as Arsenal maintained a hold on possession, and cut them open at will.

The only silver-lining of the night to home fans was the introduction of 15-year-old Max Dowman entering the action to make his debut. The teenager did not take long to make his impression as he won a penalty which was duly dispatched by Gyokeres to sign off a magnificent 5-0 win.

It was a statement game by Arsenal, who will hope the Odegaard and Saka injuries are not serious as they strive towards a good run in the English top-flight.
