Matt Renshaw replaces Labuschagne in Shocking Call-Up in Australia ODI

Matt Renshaw Australia ODI squad 2025

Matt Renshaw has received an unexpected recall into the one-day international squad of Australia, as a replacement of Marnus Labuschagne in the upcoming white-ball series against India beginning October 19.

The both ODI and T20 squads were announced by cricket Australia on Tuesday and Mitchell Marsh will lead both teams. The relocation presents a huge opportunity to Matt Renshaw who has been on a rampage in Australia A and Queensland in domestic one-day game. Renshaw is yet to debut in the ODI even after 14 Tests.

Labuschagne on the other hand has been new to consistency calls which have seen the change being made by the selectors before a busy summer including an ODI series, T20 series against India and a much-awaited Ashes with England.

There is also the returning fast bowler Mitchell Starc who has been resting in the recent games, and Glenn Maxwell is also out due to a wrist injury. Josh Inglis is a Wicketkeeper who is coming back after a leg injury.

Selector George Bailey revealed that the team is concerned with getting a balance between preparing the next Test and white-ball commitments. Bailey explained that there will be a bit of management at the end of the India series as players get ready to play the domestic season. We are also hoping to retain the T20 team mostly because it is a major step in our preparation to the world cup next year.

Cameron Green will only play in the ODIs, but not the T20s, to give attention to Test match preparations. Australia has just completed a successful tour to New Zealand where Marsh made his first T20 international century as impressive.

ODI Teams: Mitch Marsh (captain), Xavier Bartlett, Alex Carey, Cooper Connolly, Ben Dwarshuis, Nathan Ellis, Cameron Green, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Mitchell Owen, Matthew Renshaw, Matthew Short, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa.

T20 Squad: Mitch Marsh, captain, Sean Abbott, Xavier Bartlett, Tim David, Ben Dwarshuis, Nathan Ellis, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, Josh Inglis, Matthew Kuhnemann, Mitchell Owen, Matthew Short, Marcus Stoinis, Adam Zampa.
