Phoenix Suns were also in the game against the Golden State Warriors, but without the major defensive player Dillon Brooks, they were defeated on Tuesday, though there was one incident that attracted a lot of attention.
Dillon Brooks, though absent with the game, was still interested in the performance of his team and that cost him a technical foul in the last three minutes and made the game loseable. A message was then said to be passed to the locker room by the forward.
The intensity overflowed in the fourth. Following a tremendous comeback by Devin Booker in the second half the Warriors overtook a sizable lead at the halftime, with only the nine-point margin left with less than three minutes to go.
Embarrassed by a call, Dillon Brooks screamed violently at the officials as Stephen Curry shot free throws, which the crowd responded to and made Draymond Green smile, and in no time Brooks was given a technical foul.
Even colleagues were not spared. Suns forward Isaiah Livers attempted to cover the mouth of Brooks, and attempted to evade the call of the officials by joking, saying he was talking to him!, which emphasizes the wild energy Brooks possesses with him.
Devin Booker responded to the incident after the game, stating that the team had already forgotten about the incident after Dillon Brooks referred to his actions as selfish. The remarks address his attitude and management, which states that though emotions may sometimes run high throughout the competition, he accepts the responsibility and restates the value of being accountable to the members of his team.
Since his days in Memphis, Dillon Brooks has been proved as one of the most tenacious and fiery personalities in the whole NBA. Even the year before, his violent approach to the game was something that scored him much frustration both among his opponents and the referees.
In the 2024-25, Dillon Brooks received 16 technical fouls, the second-most in the league only to Anthony Edwards as a tribute to his readiness to border the edge of hard-nosed defense. Although this has in many cases led to discipline, it has also made him build his reputation as a player who assists in creating culture and provides life to every possession, particularly when it comes to high-stakes situations.
On court Brooks has also been implicated in a few high profile incidences such as the one with Kevin Durant, which led to his ejection and a technical foul given to Collin Sexton, which demonstrates his fearless nature on guarding scorers, irrespective of their height.
Brooks has also been given compliments by teammates and coaches. Head coach of Houston Rockets Ime Udoka once said to reporters, “As a guy who does not receive many playcalls, he has a significant effect on the game. He pursues his shots in a sound manner rather than an egocentric one.
Rockets guard Amen Thompson also complimented him saying, he is the coolest. It surprised me, to be honest. He’s the coolest dude. Really chill. He works hard for everything. He trains games as he trains war, and I know it in that regard.
The Bench of Warriors Wins At The Expense of Suns during Dillon Brooks Technical.
Tonight the Golden State Warriors made 118-107 against the Phoenix Suns and are now at 4 wins at the Bay.
The Warriors initiated a 25-point lead in the first half and immediately, but Phoenix was able to keep the score at par, particularly when Jimmy Butler left the field of play in the second quarter. Golden State ended up outshooting the Suns 19-42 long distance to the Phoenix 12-33 and the Warriors remained ahead despite a late charge.
Stephen Curry had the highest scoring with 28 on 5 threes and made key free throws towards the end (as expected) to prevent the Suns from making a comeback. Moses Moody had 24 points off the bench, and replaced the injured Butler, and Quinten Post, Buddy Hield, and Brandin Podziemski added 39 points. The bench of the Golden State also provided a massive advantage, defeating the reserves of the Suns by an enormous margin of 63-19.
The technical foul of Dillon Brooks that came at the end of the fourth quarter really slowed the momentum of the push of the Suns, and the Warriors remained in control of the game, with Curry sinking free throws. Devin Booker managed to make 38 points, including a third quarter where he hit every single shot (5/5 off the court to score 17 points) and a double-double by Mark Williams, but Phoenix still could not win the combined bench scoring and beyond-the-arc shooting of the Warriors.
