Jannik Sinner rounded off an exceptional week in Paris by winning the final match in Paris against Canada Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-4, 7-6(4) to win his first ever Paris masters title on Sunday, which also propelled him to the pinnacle of the ATP world ranking, right above the season-ending Finals in Turin.

In the case of Sinner, it was a straight forward yet challenging mission to either win or lose his chance of getting back to the top. The 23 year old Italian was able to cope with the pressure and beat Auger-Aliassime in straight sets to become the only fourth player in the history of the tournament to win the trophy without a single lost set.

It was also the fifth title of 2025 in the history of Sinner, and his magnificent indoor winning streak of 26 matches in a row. It is another investment in what has been a breakthrough year to the young Italian star.

This one was a lot, Sinner said afterward. It was so rough a last and we both realized how much there was at stake. The past few months have been something out of this world. We have strived to continue upgrading, and this kind of payback makes me very happy.

Auger-Aliassime had a chance to win this match and get himself to the ATP Finals, but his ambition was broken as Sinner played almost flawlessly. The ninth seed had trouble finding rhythm at the start and lost his serve in the first game as Sinner dictated the rallies and punished all short balls.

Although the Paris audience shifted to the side of the Canadian, Sinner was too precise and powerful to allow any comeback attempt. The Italian did not need one single break point in the first set, and only three points during serves, eventually closing the set with a sharp and crisp cross court forehand.

In the second set, Auger-Aliassime went the extra mile, saving 5 break points and putting the match into a tiebreak. However, when a very expensive backhand misjudgement gave Sinner the advantage, the Italian himself did not hesitate. He ended the match with a scorching down the line, backhand, to have the largest indoor title of his career.

The defeat forces Auger-Aliassime to make a serious run in Metz next week to retain his hopes of the ATP Finals, and Sinner goes to Turin with all the momentum, and as the new world No. 1 again.
