Kylian Mbappe followed it up the next day by scoring two goals in the first half as Real Madrid dispatched Valencia 4-0 on Saturday to further consolidate their lead in the LaLiga title race. Jude Bellingham and Alvaro Carreras also scored the net in one-sided performance at the Santiago Bernabeu.

The goal was the 13 th in 14 matches of Madrid in all the competitions, and they have increased their points at the top of LaLiga up to 30. Villarreal are seven points behind taking second position and Barcelona and Atletico Madrid are even farther a step behind, having the same number of points with a game to go.

The night proved to be another blow to an already difficult season of Valencia. They are ranked 18 th in the table with only nine points and have not won a single league game in the past six matches and they are now caught in a relegation tussle.

Real Madrid got off to an early start and made it happen within the first whistle. Mbappe eased the Valencia defense early on, with Federico Valverde and Vinicius Jr also threatening. This was broken during the 19 th minute when the VAR refuted a handball by Cesar Tarrega and awarded Madrid a penalty. Mbappe rose to the occasion and did not miss, putting his offside Julen Agirrezabala in the wrong.

The French star, a little more than a ten minutes later, scored again. A brilliant passageage resulted in Bellingham passing to Arda Guler who passed an accurate cross which was volleyed into the goal by Mbappe at a close distance to make the goal 2.

Vinicius Jr missed an opportunity to score another right after the 44th minute on the spot but Agirrezabala made a good save. Bellingham also repaid it some few minutes after with a beautiful low drive when near the box to score it 3-0 before the break.

Real then slowed down in the second-half but still had time to add a fourth as Carreras fired an angled shot with great power in the 82nd minute to complete the rout.

This is the 13 th goal that Mbappe has scored in 11 LaLiga games and 18 games overall this season. Valverde complimented his teammate, Mbappe, by saying, after the game, that Mbappe is spectacular. We must enjoy him, he is one of the finest in the world.

Madrid is in fine shape to maintain the winning streak with a Champions League showdown against Liverpool on Tuesday.
