It was a great week 9 of NFL season with all that fans could desire; some drama at the end of the games, break out stars and some startling collapses. The Sunday games provided enough storylines out of the impressive road victory of the Vikings and yet another defensive catastrophe in Cincinnati.

J.J. McCarthy gives Vikings a new strength

When the rookie quarterback J.J. McCarthy entered into the field once again against Detroit Lions, Minnesota had the appearance of a team on the brink of trouble. Rather, the young QB demonstrated his composure and ability to make plays, shaking off five sacks and throwing three touchdowns to secure a huge road win of the Vikings. McCarthy had a bad spell but he brought vitality to the team which they so much needed.

The defense of Bengals kills the fireworks of Joe Flacco

Joe Flacco tried his level best to maintain Cincinnati in the match, and he delivered one more solid performance in a spectacular offensive game. However, the defense of the Bengals collapsed again and they gave over 500 yards, making it the third time they yielded 500 yards in the season. Head coach Zac Taylor might not be directly running the defense, but it is impossible that fans cannot notice how frequently this department is being torn into shreds. Two consecutive defeats even after putting in 38 or above points gives a story of a good team that was destroyed by its defense.

Rams and Stafford continue their roll

Mathew Stafford is proving that he has a lot left in the tank at the age of 37. The longtime quarterback delivered four touchdowns, two to Davante Adams, and did so despite the loss of the best receiver, Puka Nacua, with an injury, to the struggling New Orleans Saints. The victory moved the Rams silently to 6-2, still in the middle of the NFC playoff game.

Chiefs and Mahomes lose in Buffalo

Patrick Mahomes tends to have the number of the Buffalo Bills, particularly during the playoffs. However, this time, Josh Allen and the Bills reversed the roles. Mahomes experienced the entire day under pressure getting hit more than a dozen times and sacked three. Kansas City lost its way at the end after a late interception by Maxwell Hairston. The referees did not assist either, the controversial intentional grounding call contributed to the frustrations of Mahomes.

Tomlin brings back Steelers

The Steelers led by Mike Tomlin recovered the setback that they suffered the previous week with a solid defensive showing against the Colts. T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith were the first in the attack, sacking Daniel Jones five times and causing five turnovers. Pittsburgh showed that it has not lost all the bite in a tight AFC race.

Jordan Love hits himself down to earth

Jordan Love and the Packers crashed right after an already hot Week 8 with a loss of 16-13 to the Carolina Panthers. Love made deep throws throughout the game and his interception was easy and there were a few near misses. Coach Matt LaFleur had the best description to make it, Love was chasing the big play. In the meantime, Carolina rode riding Rico Dowdle to the big day to an unanticipated defeat.

Creative coaching boosts Bears past Bengals

The coach of Chicago Ben Johnson must be praised in his ability to think over the defense of Bengals. The Bears used every gimmick, and two gadget plays, after which quarterback Caleb Williams took crucial passes. Include break out games by Kyle Monangai (176 rushing yards) and Colston Loveland (118 receiving yards) and the Bears offense was purring with one of the biggest surprises of Week 9.

Lesson of Week 9: Young quarterbacks are coming, old veterans are not leaving, and some playoff contenders are learning they have significant weaknesses. Now that the season has reached the midway point, momentum is all the things and some of the teams are evidently getting theirs.
