ESPN’s Mike Greenberg isn’t shy about sharing strong opinions, and his latest take on Josh Allen has fans buzzing.
The longtime New York Jets fan turned heads Friday when he used his platform on Get Up to deliver the ultimate praise for the Buffalo Bills quarterback.
“No one has ever played that position better than Josh Allen plays it,” Mike Greenberg said.
Greeny’s Big Claim
Mike Greenberg admitted he’d been watching football for 50 years, and in that time, he hasn’t seen a quarterback do it better.
“You can’t be better than Josh Allen. Josh Allen does everything. His command of the game right now is ridiculous,” he said. “He just hasn’t won anything. If he had, we’d be talking about him as one of the best quarterbacks ever.”
Pushback From Bart Scott
Sitting alongside Mike Greenberg, former NFL linebacker Bart Scott couldn’t believe what he was hearing. He quickly countered with Lamar Jackson’s name when Greeny pressed him for another example.
And to be fair, Greenberg’s timing was unusual. The Bills’ Week 3 win came against a winless Miami Dolphins team, not exactly the kind of stage where G.O.A.T. debates usually spark.
Why His Point Still Resonates
Even if the statement feels over the top, Greenberg’s message was clear: Josh Allen is the complete package.
Allen’s journey only adds weight to the argument. From a kid overlooked by Division I programs, to a raw, inconsistent passer at Wyoming, to an NFL MVP—his rise has been remarkable.
- He runs like Derrick Henry.
- He throws like peak Patrick Mahomes.
- He commands the huddle like the greats.
The Debate Lives On
Of course, conversations about the greatest always stir disagreement. That’s part of the fun for fans. But Greeny’s bold stance will likely earn him some new supporters in Buffalo.
One thing’s for sure—Bills Mafia isn’t going to argue with him.
