Jason Myers nailed a 52-yard field goal as time expired, lifting the Seattle Seahawks to a dramatic 23-20 win over the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday night.
Seattle seemed in full control after building a 20-6 lead, but Kyler Murray sparked a furious late rally for Arizona. Murray first hit rookie Marvin Harrison Jr. for a 16-yard touchdown, then found Emari Demercado from seven yards out with just 33 seconds left, tying the game at 20-20.
That set the stage for a wild finish. After a kickoff penalty gave Seattle favorable field position, Sam Darnold connected with Jaxon Smith-Njigba on a 22-yard strike to move into field-goal range. Jason Myers, who had missed from 53 yards earlier, redeemed himself by drilling the game-winner as the clock hit zero.
Darnold was sharp, going 18-of-26 for 242 yards and a touchdown. Running back Kenneth Walker III added 81 rushing yards, while Zach Charbonnet powered in a 1-yard score just before halftime to give the Seahawks a 14-3 cushion. Seattle’s defense also came up big, sacking Murray six times.
For the Cardinals, it was another frustrating finish. Murray threw for 200 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions, one off a tipped pass by Harrison Jr. Despite two late scoring drives, Arizona couldn’t complete the comeback.
Seattle improves to 3-1 with its eighth straight win over Arizona, while the Cardinals slip to 2-2 after dropping back-to-back games.
