Tuesday, the team agreed with offensive linemen Joshua Miles and Tyree Phillips, as well as cornerback Tre Avery. Still the greatest news is that there is a reunion of the wide receiver, Gage Larvadain who was released a few weeks earlier and is now returning to Cleveland.
Gage Larvadain made a strong impression at training camp and during preseason to be named on the initial 53-man roster towards the end of August. He was however released when the Browns used up rookie running back Quinshon Judkins prior to Week 2. The 22 year old is currently on the practice squad once again after the wide receiver room became depleted, and can be promoted on game days.
Jerry Jeudy, Cedric Tillman, Jamari Thrash and Isaiah Bond are the current remaining healthy receivers of Cleveland since Deandre Carter was declared unfit due to concussion. Larvadain coming back at his right time could not have been any better because the group has been receiving substantial criticism of not passing the ball and low productivity. During the loss to Baltimore Ravens in Week 2, no wideouts other than Jeudy had a total of four catches and 33 yards even though the quarterback, Joe Flacco, made 45 passes.
There is potential promise in the college career of Gage Larsvadain. He transferred to South Carolina after an excellent 2023 season with Miami RedHawks, where he caught 42 passes, scored 679 yards and two TDs.
The Browns waived defensive tackle Ralph Holley, offensive lineman Logan Brown, and cornerback LaMareon James to get on the practice squad.
Although there is little chance that Gage Larvadain will be promoted in time to play against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday at Huntington Bank Stadium, his exposes during the preseason illustrate that he may be involved in the future. As the Browns have not been very successful in the development of young receivers under head coach Kevin Stefanski and general manager Andrew Berry, Gage Larvadain may have one more opportunity to prove himself.
