Atlanta Falcons running back Bijan Robinson made Monday night his highlight reel. Robinson, who scored 238 scrimmage yards, on a 238-yard run and 81-yard run, with both being a career best, propelled the Falcons to a 24-14 victory over the Buffalo Bills, and now everyone is reminded why the coach calls him the best player in football.
Raheem Morris, the head coach, did not hesitate to make his provocative statement again after the game.
Morris said, he is the best in football. It is what I have already said on several occasions. He expresses it when he comes to the field.
A Night to Remember
Bijan Robinson could not be stopped in Mercedes-Benz Stadium as he rushed 170 yards on 19 carries (8.9 yards per attempt) and had 68 receiving yards on six catches. NFL Research states that his total 238 yards are the third-highest on a Monday night football game in the history of the league.
The 23-year-old became among the few players who had at least 450 rushing yards and 300 receiving yards during the first six games of a season, becoming the third player to do so after Hall of Famer Thurman Thomas (1991) did the same that year to win the NFL MVP.
Bijan Robinson likened his hot streak to a shooter who had rhythm in the basketball court.
It is as though Steph Curry when he is in a groove, he said. When my offensive line is getting space as such, then it is my task to make the defenders miss. That’s what we did tonight.”
The Play to Which They All Will Memorize
The turning point was during the second quarter. Bijan Robinson, who had received a handoff at first-and-5 on the Falcons 19, broke through a gap on the right side on a handoff by Michael Penix Jr., cut back to the center before running out of the edge again. Cole Bishop, the defender of the bill, appeared to have him on the ground but Robinson evaded the tackle, remained on his feet, and ran 81 yards to the goal – 20.17 mph, according to Next Gen Stats.
Blocked to the full, Robinson said. Casey Washington has blocked the corner well, and I just trailed the crease and completed the play. That would be God-given talent.
The Offense of Falcons Shines Young
Bijan Robinson was not the only one to fire the scoreboard. The first half was huge to Receiver Drake London, who caught nine passes with 147 yards and a touchdown. NFL Research shows that it was the first time in eight years since 2007 when two separate teammates had each at least 140 scrimmage yards and a touchdown in the same half.
Atlanta led the second half 21-7, and even though the offense was not as fruitful in the second half, Bijan Robinson assisted in securing the victory in the end. On the last drive by Falcons, he made a 23 yard catch and run, which was capped by 33 yard field goal by John Parker Romo that brought the victory to the end.
Humble Star, Big Praise
And even after the dominant performance, Bijan Robinson remained down to earth and attributed the performance to teammates and faith rather than attributing it to himself.
When I asked him whether he felt unstoppable when playing, he replied that that is not his style. “It’s all about the team.”
But there were others glad to talk on his behalf. LeBron James tweeted on X: Bijan so COLD!!!!!!!! along with the commendation of his coach, A.J. Terrell, his teammate:
“He just keeps getting better. All his actions appear to be effortless.
Remaining Future- Oriented
Bijan Robinson claimed that he had more momentum into the game against Josh Allen, who is the current NFL MVP, but soon shifted to consistency.
People will begin to say, where are the Falcons, but we cannot get entangled in that, he said. We will party this night and be off.
Having the San Francisco 49ers on paper next on the list, the Falcons will require additional of the same of their silent superstar who is rapidly showing that sometimes, it does not require that the greatest in football actually say it in the first place.
