Adrian Peterson, a former NFL running back, was arrested once again on Sunday morning, October 26, 2025, in Sugar Land, Texas. The jail records at Fort Bend County indicated that the 40-year-old was arrested at around 9.30 a.m. and has been charged with two serious offenses namely driving while intoxicated (DWI) and unlawful possession of a weapon.
It is the second DWI arrest of Peterson in 2025 and the fans are shocked that one of the greatest running-backs in NFL is caught in the court again. In April, he was caught driving 83mph within a 55mph area and was arrested in Minnesota. His blood test showed that his alcohol content was 0.14 which is almost twice the legal limit. The government has not been able to provide more information regarding his recent arrest.
NFL Superstar to Continuous Legal Problems
Adrian Peterson was one of the most incredible players in the NFL with a career spanning 15 seasons in such teams as Minnesota Vikings, Washington Commanders, Detroit Lions and Seattle Seahawks. Peterson is a seven-time Pro Bowler and a 2012 NFL MVP who has rushed 14,918 all-time. He was also awarded the 2007 offensive Rookie of the year award.
In spite of his achievements in the field, Peterson has had an advertising life that has been filled with scandals after his retirement in the NFL. He retired in 2021 and has since been encountering a number of legal and personal issues that have been in the headline.
History of Domestic Dispute with Wife Ashley Peterson
In 2022, Adrian Peterson was also arrested after having an argument on a flight with his wife, Ashley, between Los Angeles and Houston. The alleged physical fight was reported to the police, some witnesses stated that Peterson took Ashleys by the hand and ripped off her wedding ring. Nevertheless, Ashley, later on, discredited the domestic violence allegations by claiming, “Adrian and I had a verbal argument. He never struck or hit me at any point.
A Complicated Family Life
Adrian and Ashley Peterson graduated the University of Oklahoma and got married in 2014. Ashley is a model and an entrepreneur who operates Elizabella Cosmetics and also founded the AAPF Foundation together with Adrian. The father has three children with the wife, Adrian Peterson Jr., Axyl Eugene and Abrielle and five more with other relationships.
Child Abuse Case and NFL Suspension of 2014
The most notorious court case Peterson had to fight was in 2014, when the NFL suspended him after being accused of child abuse. He was a confessed abuser of his four year old boy by using a tree branch that left visible marks. He was fined and given two years of probation, a fine of 4,000, and 80 hours of community service were assigned to him.
To make his personal tragedies worse, in 2013, his two-year-old son, Tyrese Robert Ruffin was killed by his mother’s boyfriend.
Nevertheless, Peterson has frequently mentioned that he is more focused on his family and his religion. However, his most recent arrest demonstrates that the former MVP is not out of off field problems.
